ViewLux Window Replacement: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

We stock and install ViewLux-compatible replacement windows throughout Fort Lauderdale, with most single-unit swaps running $450 to $950 installed depending on size, glass package, and frame condition. Same-week scheduling is typical for us, not a promise we make lightly. Most homeowners discover they need a ViewLux replacement the same way: a seal that’s finally given out, a sash that won’t stay up, or condensation that shows up between the panes every morning like clockwork.

Call (754) 310-3589

ViewLux built a reputation for value-priced vinyl windows that hold up reasonably well in South Florida, but no vinyl unit lasts forever in this climate. Salt air, UV exposure, and the daily expansion and contraction from our heat cycles take a toll on seals and hardware faster here than almost anywhere else in the country. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, but we work on their windows regularly and know what fails first.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

Over the years, ViewLux has sold several vinyl window lines through Florida building suppliers, most commonly the 4000 and 5000 series single-hung and horizontal slider configurations. The 5000 series generally uses a slightly heavier extrusion and a different balance shoe than the 4000, which matters when you’re ordering replacement sashes or hardware. If you can find the model label, it’s usually etched into the spacer bar between the glass panes or printed on a sticker inside the frame channel. If the label’s gone, we measure the visible glass dimensions and the frame depth to identify what we’re working with.

One compatibility gotcha we see regularly: ViewLux sashes from different production years don’t always interchange, even within the same series. The manufacturer changed balance shoe suppliers at least twice, and a 2012 sash often won’t seat properly in a 2019 frame. For parts like balances, pivot bars, and tilt latches, a quality aftermarket equivalent from a supplier like Strybuc or Truth Hardware usually performs as well as the OEM part and costs less. For full sash replacements or glass packages, we recommend matching the original glass spec exactly, especially if the unit is an impact-rated window. Mixing non-impact glass into an impact frame voids the structural rating.

Signs Your ViewLux Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Persistent fogging between the panes. The desiccant in the spacer bar has saturated and the seal has failed. This isn’t condensation on the room side you can wipe away; it’s moisture trapped inside the insulated glass unit itself. Once the seal goes, the window’s insulating value drops sharply.
  • A sash that drops when you let go or won’t stay in the raised position. The spring balance system inside the side jambs has worn out or a pivot bar has snapped. In ViewLux frames, we see the plastic pivot bars crack long before the metal springs wear out.
  • Visible cracking, warping, or chalky residue on the vinyl frame. Years of direct Fort Lauderdale sun degrades the vinyl compound, especially on western and southern exposures. Once the frame starts to distort, the weatherstripping gaps open and the window leaks air.
  • Hard cranking or binding when operating. Salt air corrodes the operator gears and hinge points on casement and awning units. We regularly open ViewLux hardware in Fort Lauderdale Beach and Galt Ocean Mile homes to find rusted gears that should have been replaced a year earlier.
  • Drafts or water staining around the frame perimeter. The original installation may have settled or the flashing may have failed. This is rarely a window defect and almost always an installation problem, which means a replacement sash alone won’t fix it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a standard ViewLux vinyl replacement in Fort Lauderdale, budget $450 to $950 per window installed. That range covers:

  • $250-$550 for the replacement unit itself (glass package, sash, or full window depending on what failed)
  • $100-$250 for labor and disposal of the old unit
  • $50-$150 for any frame repair, flashing work, or hardware upgrades needed

Impact-rated ViewLux replacements run higher, typically $700 to $1,200 per unit, because the laminated glass package costs substantially more. What pushes a quote toward the upper end: oversized openings, second-story access, rotted framing that needs repair, or a window that requires custom sizing. Every quote we write is line-item and fixed. The 90-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship, and The Keystone Standard means both manufacturer warranty layers get registered in writing before we leave your driveway.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can clean the tracks, inspect the weatherstripping, and note the glass measurements from inside your home. That’s useful information when you call for a quote. What you should not do is attempt a full sash or balance replacement on your own if you’ve never done one. Vinyl frames flex, balance springs are under tension, and a sash that releases unexpectedly can take a chunk out of drywall or a finger. I’ve seen a homeowner in Victoria Park put a balance through the wall trying to force a 5000 series sash back into a jammed pivot bar. That repair cost three times what the original service call would have.

If you want it done right, call (754) 310-3589. We’ll bring the right part, measure the opening twice, and finish the job in one visit.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★

"Energy bill was the reason we called. They did not oversell - said the two worst walls of windows would do most of the work and we could stop there. Did those eight with the Low-E glass. August electric bill tells the story."

HHarold W.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."
